Your state's rules and your uniform policy decide the size of each patch. In California the bureau has previously approved patches of at least 3 x 4 in.
Before you order
Check your state's rules before you order.
-
California
Guards who carry a baton or an exposed firearm wear a patch with your full licensed company name and the words Private Security. The state bureau must approve the design and has previously approved patches of at least 3 x 4 in.
-
Texas
Nothing on the uniform may suggest a government connection, and the word police is not allowed. We lay your patch out as a private company's, with no government-style marks.
-
Florida
A licensed guard's uniform bears at least one patch or emblem, visible at all times, that clearly identifies the employing agency. Your company name leads the design, large enough to read at a glance.
Your state may have its own rules. Send them to us and we lay the patch out to them. We never promise a regulator's approval.
Patch type and backing
Which patch type and backing to pick.
-
Embroidered Most chosen Raised thread on twill with a stitched border. The standard for shoulder patches and chest badge patches.

-
Woven Thinner thread for long company names and small lettering that embroidery would blur.

-
PVC Molded rubber for vests, outer carriers and rain jackets. Wipes clean.

A proof your regulator can read.
- Your company name, spelled as on your license.
- The wording your state asks for.
- Full color, actual size.
Submit the proof to your regulator first. Production starts once you tell us it was approved. We cannot promise approval. If the finished patches do not match the sample you approved, we remake them free or refund you in full.
Get my actual-size proofQuestions security companies ask.
- Will the patch pass our state regulator?
- That is the regulator's decision and we cannot promise it. We lay the patch out to the rules you send and give you a proof to submit.
- Is there a minimum for a small company?
- No minimum. Twenty-five 4-inch patches cost $148.25, and $29.65 starts the order.
- What if our regulator asks for changes?
- We revise the proof and send it again.
- Can you copy the patch we wear now?
- Yes, if the design is your company's. Send a photo beside a ruler and compare photos and a video of our stitched sample before you pay the balance.
- Can the patch say police or carry a state seal?
- No. We do not put police or sheriff wording, government-style seals or a flag background on security patches.
- How long does it take?
- 8–12 days. Rush takes 5–7 days for embroidered, chenille and printed, 7–10 days for woven and PVC. It costs about double, or we quote it for your order. Your regulator's review time is separate.
- What if we do not like the sample?
- Tell us what to change and we stitch it again.
